Indications
Pristiq is indicated for the treatment of major depressive episodes in adults. It has also been used in the management of generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. Desvenlafaxine works by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, which helps to improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms. This pharmacological action can contribute to the normalization of neurotransmitter levels in the brain, resulting in a decrease in depressive and anxious symptoms.
Composition
Each Pristiq tablet contains 100 mg of desvenlafaxine, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Pristiq is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to desvenlafaxine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in those with a history of serotonin syndrome. Its use should be avoided in individuals with severe cardiovascular disease or uncontrolled hypertension.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of mania, epilepsy, bleeding disorders, or risk of hemorrhage. In addition, it is recommended to monitor patients at risk of suicide, especially at the beginning of treatment or when adjusting the dose. It is important to evaluate renal and hepatic function before initiating treatment, as dose adjustment may be necessary in these cases.

Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
