Indications

Predial is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used as part of a comprehensive program that includes a proper diet and physical exercise. It is recommended for overweight patients who are unable to maintain adequate blood glucose control with lifestyle changes. Predial can be used alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, as directed by a physician. In addition, it is indicated for the prevention of type 2 diabetes in patients at high risk of developing the disease.

Composition

Each Predial tablet contains 500 mg of metformin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as starch, talc, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Predial is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal insufficiency, acute kidney disease, metabolic acidosis, or in situations of severe dehydration. Its use is also contraindicated in patients with acute pancreatitis and in those with a history of lactic acidosis.

Precautions

Care should be taken when administering Predial to patients with moderate or mild renal insufficiency, as well as in those with conditions that may affect kidney function. It is essential to monitor kidney function periodically during treatment. Likewise, patients should be warned about the signs and symptoms of lactic acidosis, which is a rare but serious complication associated with the use of metformin. Patients should be informed about the importance of following medical instructions and undergoing regular checks of their glucose levels.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
