Indications
Prazolan is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to gastric hyperacidity and esophageal disorders. It is used in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where it helps relieve symptoms of heartburn and regurgitation. Additionally, it is indicated for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics, contributing to the treatment of peptic ulcers. It is also used in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as in the prevention of ulcers associated with prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Its effect consists of reducing stomach acid production, which allows for better healing of the gastric and esophageal mucosa.
Composition
Each Prazolan tablet contains 40 mg of pantoprazole, as well as the necessary excipients for its formulation.
Contraindications
Prazolan is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment, as well as in those who present symptoms suggesting the presence of malignancy, before initiating pantoprazole treatment. Additionally, the possibility of vitamin B12 deficiency should be evaluated during prolonged treatments, as decreased gastric acidity can interfere with the absorption of this vitamin.
