Indications
Praiva is an antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone class, indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective in the treatment of acute respiratory infections, such as community-acquired pneumonia, as well as sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, and acute exacerbations. It is also used in skin and soft tissue infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections, and some urinary tract infections. The mechanism of action of moxifloxacin consists of inhibiting bacterial enzymes that are essential for DNA replication and repair, resulting in the death of susceptible bacteria.
Composition
Each Praiva sachet contains 400 mg of moxifloxacin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation.
Contraindications
Praiva is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with a history of tendinitis or tendon rupture related to fluoroquinolone use. It is also contraindicated in patients under 18 years of age and during pregnancy, unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of kidney disease, as the dosage may require adjustment. Additionally, care should be taken in patients with neurological disorders, such as seizures, and in those who are being treated with other medications that may prolong the QT interval. Monitor for the appearance of adverse reactions such as tendon pain, especially in the elderly or those receiving corticosteroids.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
