Indications
Pontiride (Sulpiride) is indicated in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. It is also used for the treatment of depression in patients with anxiety symptoms, as well as for the management of behavioral disorders in patients with organic diseases. Sulpiride acts primarily as an antipsychotic, modulating dopamine activity in the central nervous system, which can help improve disease symptoms and facilitate the patient's general well-being.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Sulpiride 50 mg. Excipients: lactose, starch, talc, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sulpiride or to any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered in cases of pheochromocytoma, uncontrolled seizure disorders, or in patients with severe renal insufficiency. Likewise, its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation, unless the physician deems it strictly necessary.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, liver or kidney diseases. It is indicated to evaluate the risk of adverse effects in those who have a history of hematological disorders. In addition, monitoring is required in elderly or debilitated patients. This medication can cause sedation; it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption and driving during treatment.
