Indications
Ponti Ofteno is a medication indicated for local anesthesia in ophthalmic procedures. It is used to provide pain relief during eye examinations or treatments, such as foreign body removal, tonometry, or during cataract surgery. Additionally, it can be used in the diagnosis of certain eye conditions, facilitating the examination of the ocular surface and conjunctiva. Its anesthetic action allows these procedures to be performed more comfortably for the patient.
Composition
Each ml of Ponti Ofteno contains: Tetracaine (5 mg). Excipients: sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, and purified water.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to tetracaine or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in cases of acute infections or inflammation of the ocular surface, or in patients with certain medical conditions that may increase the risk of adverse effects after the use of local anesthetics.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of cardiovascular or liver diseases, as well as in those receiving treatment with other medications that may interact with tetracaine. Prolonged use should be avoided, as it may cause corneal toxicity. It is recommended not to administer if the solution is cloudy or has changes in color.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
