Indications
Polixin Ofteno is indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections, as well as for the prophylaxis of infections in surgical procedures or invasive procedures in the ocular area. It is useful in reducing the bacterial load at the application site and in the management of certain conditions such as bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and keratitis, among others. Additionally, it can be used in the context of combination therapy with other antimicrobial agents to improve treatment efficacy.
Composition
Each ml of Polixin Ofteno contains: Neomycin 0.5 mg, Polymyxin B 0.25 mg, Gramicidin 0.025 mg, in an adequate excipient.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in viral, fungal, or tuberculous eye infections, nor in cases of deep corneal lesions or ulcerations.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Polixin Ofteno in patients with a history of antibiotic allergies, as well as in those with pre-existing eye conditions. It is important to avoid contact of the dropper with surfaces to prevent contamination. It should not be used for prolonged periods to avoid the development of bacterial resistance.
Storage
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
