Indications
Podophyllin No.2 Suspension 25% is indicated for the treatment of external genital warts, specifically in cases of condyloma acuminata, which are benign lesions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Podophyllin resin acts as a cytotoxic agent that destroys abnormal cells on the skin surface. This medication is frequently used in dermatology and venereology to eliminate these lesions, and its use must be supervised by a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each 5 ml of Podophyllin No.2 Suspension contains 1.25 g of Podophyllin Resin, as well as excipients that favor its formulation and stability.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to podophyllin resin or to any of the components of the formula. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in patients with malignant lesions or in areas affected by viral infections, such as herpes or warts in an inflammatory state.
Precautions
It is recommended to apply Podophyllin No.2 exclusively to the affected lesions, avoiding contact with healthy skin. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of hepatic or renal dysfunction, as well as in those who are being treated with other cytotoxic agents. It is essential to follow the doctor's instructions to avoid adverse effects and ensure effective treatment.
