Indications
Periplum (Clindamycin) is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to clindamycin. It is used in skin and soft tissue infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, as well as intra-abdominal infections. It is also indicated in the treatment of certain types of gynecological infections and osteomyelitis. Clindamycin acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which contributes to the eradication of infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria and some anaerobes.
Composition
Each 100 ml of Periplum solution contains: Clindamycin (as hydrochloride) 1 g. Excipients: purified water, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide.
Contraindications
Periplum is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any other component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in cases of antibiotic-associated colitis, as well as in patients with a history of severe gastrointestinal diseases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of colitis, as there is an increased risk of pseudomembranous colitis. Monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended in patients with pre-existing conditions. Additionally, the use of clindamycin should be considered in patients with asthma, as respiratory distress has been reported in some cases.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
