Indications
Pepto Bismol Suspension is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute non-specific diarrhea, as well as for the relief of stomach upset, nausea, gastritis, and other gastrointestinal disorders. This medication works by forming a protective layer over the gastrointestinal mucosa, which helps reduce irritation and inflammation. It is useful in cases of indigestion and stomach upset, helping to restore the normal function of the digestive tract.
Composition
Each 100 ml of suspension contains: 1.75 g of bismuth subsalicylate. Excipients: purified water, sorbitol, flavoring, among others.
Contraindications
Pepto Bismol should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to bismuth subsalicylate or any of the excipients in the formula. It is contraindicated in cases of gastrointestinal bleeding, acute ulcerative colitis, and in children under 12 years of age, unless otherwise medically indicated. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastric or duodenal ulcers. In case of persistent symptoms or worsening of the condition, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Simultaneous use with other medications containing salicylates is not recommended. It is important to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry and cool place. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
