Indications
Pepto Bismol Diarrhea is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea. It is useful for relieving gastrointestinal discomfort related to diarrhea, such as nausea, vomiting, and upset stomach. This medication works by forming a protective layer over the stomach lining and intestinal wall, which helps to reduce inflammation and irritation. It is also used for the treatment of indigestion and upset stomach that may accompany episodes of diarrhea. Its use is recommended for adults and children over 12 years of age.
Composition
Each 100 ml of Pepto Bismol Diarrhea contains 3.5 g of bismuth subsalicylate as an active ingredient, in addition to excipients that contribute to the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to bismuth subsalicylate or any other component of the formula. It should not be used in individuals with severe systemic diseases, such as kidney failure or active gastrointestinal bleeding. Likewise, its use is not recommended for children under 12 years of age, or for pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical supervision.
Precautions
It is recommended to use this medication with caution in patients who are taking anticoagulants or who have any type of ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding. It is important to consult a doctor before starting treatment if the patient has persistent symptoms or if diarrhea is accompanied by high fever or blood in the stool.
