Indications
Pentasa is indicated for the treatment of active ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, as well as for the prevention of relapses in patients with ulcerative colitis in remission. Mesalazine acts locally in the intestine, helping to reduce inflammation and control symptoms associated with these conditions. It is important that treatment with Pentasa is supervised by a physician, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the individual characteristics of the patient.
Composition
Each Pentasa suppository contains 1 g of mesalazine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration.
Contraindications
Pentasa is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mesalazine, to any of the components of the formula, or to other medicines with a similar chemical structure. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney disease, as there may be a risk of renal toxicity. It is recommended to monitor kidney function during treatment. In addition, the use of Pentasa in pregnant or breastfeeding women should be considered, and it should only be administered if the benefits outweigh the potential risks. In case of adverse effects, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
