Indications
Oxitopisa is a medication indicated for the induction of labor in women who are at term. It is also used for the management of postpartum hemorrhage due to its ability to contract the uterus and reduce bleeding. Furthermore, it is indicated for the evaluation of uterine function and for performing fetal stress tests. Oxytocin is used in specific clinical situations where precise control of uterine activity is required, as well as to facilitate childbirth in women with complications that require medical intervention. Its use must be supervised by a qualified healthcare professional.
Composition
Each ampoule of Oxitopisa contains 5 IU/mL of oxytocin as the active ingredient. Excipients are detailed in the product leaflet.
Contraindications
Oxitopisa is contraindicated in women with a history of allergy to oxytocin or any component of the formulation. Likewise, it should not be administered in cases of dystocia due to a narrow pelvis, cephalopelvic disproportion, or in situations where a safe vaginal delivery cannot be performed. It is also contraindicated in cases of uncontrolled obstetric hemorrhage and in fetuses with conditions that contraindicate vaginal delivery.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Oxitopisa in patients with hypertension, heart disease, or kidney problems. It is essential to monitor uterine response and fetal well-being during its administration. The use of this medication must always be controlled in an appropriate clinical setting.
