Indications
Oxal is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by helminths (worms) and protozoa. It is effective in the treatment of intestinal worm infections, such as ascariasis, hookworm, trichuriasis, and enterobiasis. It is also used in the treatment of Giardia lamblia infections, which cause giardiasis. The combination of quinfamide and albendazole enhances the efficacy of the treatment, providing a broader spectrum against different types of parasites. It is recommended for patients experiencing symptoms of parasitic infections, such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, and general malaise. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis before starting treatment.
Composition
Each Oxal tablet contains 150 mg of quinfamide and 200 mg of albendazole as active ingredients. In addition, it contains excipients that facilitate the pharmaceutical form and the absorption of the medicine in the body.
Contraindications
Oxal is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. Likewise, its use is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy or in breastfeeding women. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases or in those with a history of serious adverse reactions to antiparasitic medications.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with quinfamide or albendazole. Regular medical follow-up during treatment is advisable to evaluate response and the presence of adverse effects. Stool analysis after treatment is also suggested to confirm the eradication of the infection.
Storage
Store the medication in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
