Indications
Ovidrel is indicated for the treatment of infertility in women requiring ovarian stimulation. It is used in the context of in vitro fertilization (IVF) protocols and in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, as well as for ovulation induction in women who have not responded adequately to clomiphene therapy. Choriogonadotropin alfa, the active ingredient in Ovidrel, facilitates follicular maturation and ovulation, making it an essential treatment in reproductive medicine.
Composition
Each Ovidrel syringe contains 250 mcg of choriogonadotropin alfa as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that ensure the stability and efficacy of the medication.
Contraindications
Ovidrel should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to choriogonadotropin alfa or to any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in cases of ovarian, uterine, or breast tumors, as well as in ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome or in conditions that contraindicate ovulation induction.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of thromboembolism, as well as in those with medical conditions that may increase the risk of complications. It is important to closely monitor the response to treatment and adjust doses as needed, following the recommendations of the treating physician.
Storage
Ovidrel should be stored in a cool, dry place, at temperatures between 2°C and 8°C. It should not be frozen. Keep out of reach of children.
