Indications
Osmorol is used to reduce intracranial pressure and intraocular pressure. It is indicated in situations of oliguria or anuria, such as in acute renal failure. It is also used in the prevention of renal failure due to certain types of surgery and in the elimination of toxins, promoting diuresis. Additionally, Osmorol can be used in cases of cerebral edema, as well as dehydration due to overhydration. It is important that its use is carried out under strict medical supervision, given that incorrect administration can lead to significant complications.
Composition
Each 100 ml of Osmorol contains: 20 g of mannitol.
Contraindications
Osmorol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to mannitol or any component of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of severe renal failure, pulmonary edema, or severe dehydration, as well as in patients with active intracranial hemorrhage. Its use should be avoided in situations where fluid administration may be detrimental.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart disease, as mannitol can increase intravascular volume and cause overload. In addition, renal function, blood pressure, and electrolytes should be monitored during treatment with Osmorol to avoid complications. It should not be administered rapidly without adequate control.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. Keep away from light and heat sources. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
