Indications
Onco Bcg is indicated for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, specifically in patients with superficial urothelial carcinoma. This medication acts as an immunotherapeutic agent that stimulates the patient's immune response against tumor cells in the bladder. It is commonly used in the prevention of recurrences of this type of cancer after transurethral resection of the tumor. It can also be used in the treatment of patients with carcinoma in situ and in those with a history of relapse. Administration must be performed by a qualified healthcare professional, and it is essential to follow the specific instructions regarding dosage and treatment regimen.
Composition
Each ampoule of Onco Bcg contains Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) 40 mg. This component is an attenuated bacillus used to induce an immunological response in the body, promoting the elimination of tumor cells.
Contraindications
Onco Bcg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of active infections, autoimmune diseases, or in immunocompromised patients. Likewise, it is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with pulmonary or respiratory diseases, as well as in those with a history of tuberculosis or mycobacterial infections. It is important to perform clinical and laboratory monitoring during treatment, and to inform the patient about possible adverse effects.
Storage
Onco Bcg should be stored at a temperature between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light. Do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
