Indications
Omacor is indicated as a dietary supplement for the management of elevated blood triglyceride levels in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in high-risk patients. In addition, it is used in the treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia and as an adjunct in the therapy of metabolic syndrome. Its formulation of omega-3 fatty acids contributes to the reduction of inflammation and improves cardiovascular health.
Composition
Each Omacor capsule contains 1000 mg of omega-3 fatty acid ethyl esters, of which 840 mg are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). In addition, it contains appropriate excipients to ensure product stability and absorption.
Contraindications
Omacor is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, as well as in those with active liver disease and in patients who are receiving anticoagulant treatment, due to the risk of hemorrhage. The use of this medication should be carefully evaluated in patients with coagulation disorders.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of arrhythmias, as well as in those with severe cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor triglyceride levels and adjust the dose as required. In addition, interaction with other medications that affect blood coagulation should be considered. It is suggested not to exceed the recommended dose and to consult a doctor for any adverse effects.
