Indications
Nyquil Z (Diphenhydramine) is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with colds, allergies, and hay fever. This includes the reduction of sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and nose, as well as nasal congestion. Additionally, it is used to facilitate sleep in cases of occasional insomnia, helping patients fall asleep more effectively. Its antihistamine action contributes to the decrease in central nervous system activity, which causes drowsiness.
Composition
Each capsule of Nyquil Z contains 25 mg of Diphenhydramine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that aid in the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Nyquil Z is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Diphenhydramine or any other component of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or in those taking MAO inhibitors. Likewise, its use should be avoided in children under 12 years of age without medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Nyquil Z in individuals with chronic respiratory diseases, liver disease, or in those who are consuming alcohol or medications that depress the central nervous system. It is important to avoid activities that require mental alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, while under the influence of the medication.
