Indications
Norfenon is indicated for the treatment of supraventricular and ventricular cardiac arrhythmias, as well as for the prevention of atrial fibrillation episodes. This medication acts as a class 1C antiarrhythmic, meaning it stabilizes the myocardial cell membrane and reduces the excitability of cardiac tissue, contributing to the normalization of heart rhythm. Its use must be supervised by a physician, who will evaluate the specific indication and appropriate dosage according to the patient's characteristics.
Composition
Each Norfenon tablet contains 300 mg of propafenone as the active ingredient. Excipients include corn starch, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate the medication's formulation.
Contraindications
Norfenon is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to propafenone or any component of the formula. Furthermore, its use is not recommended in patients with second or third-degree heart block, decompensated congestive heart failure, and in those with sick sinus syndrome. Its use in pregnant and breastfeeding women must be evaluated by a physician.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with coronary artery disease, hepatic, or renal insufficiency. It is important to perform clinical and electrocardiographic monitoring during treatment to detect possible adverse effects. Additionally, combination with other antiarrhythmic medications should be avoided without adequate supervision, as it may increase the risk of arrhythmias.
