Indications

Norfenon is indicated for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including sustained and non-sustained ventricular tachycardias. This medication is used in patients with a history of atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter who require ventricular rate control. It is also useful in preventing episodes of ventricular tachycardia in patients with ischemic or dilated cardiomyopathy. Norfenon administration must be supervised by a physician, who will evaluate the adequacy of the treatment based on the patient's clinical condition.

Composition

Each Norfenon tablet contains 150 mg of propafenone as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation.

Contraindications

Norfenon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to propafenone or any of the excipients; in those with decompensated heart failure, second or third-degree heart block, and in patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome associated with atrial fibrillation. Its use is also contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia or in those with a history of recent myocardial infarction.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when using Norfenon in patients with obstructive pulmonary diseases, as it may worsen these conditions. Likewise, it is recommended to evaluate liver and kidney function before initiating treatment, as drug elimination may be affected by alterations in these functions. It is important to monitor patients during treatment to detect possible adverse effects.
