Indications
Nimotop (Nimodipine) is indicated for the prevention and treatment of neurological deficits that may occur after a subarachnoid hemorrhage. This medication acts as a calcium antagonist, which helps improve cerebral blood flow and reduce the risk of cerebral ischemia. Its use is primarily intended for patients who have suffered a hemorrhagic event, with the aim of minimizing neurological sequelae and improving functional recovery.
Furthermore, it can be used in the treatment of other vascular disorders of the central nervous system, where improved cerebral perfusion and management of intracranial pressure are required.
Composition
Each Nimotop tablet contains 30 mg of Nimodipine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients that allow for the formulation and stability of the product.
Contraindications
Nimotop is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Nimodipine or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment, as it could increase the risk of adverse effects. Likewise, its use is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Nimotop to patients with a history of hypotension, as it can cause a significant decrease in blood pressure. Likewise, it is recommended to monitor patients with pre-existing heart conditions due to the possibility of adverse effects on cardiac function.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
