Indications
Nimotop is indicated in the treatment of the neurological effects of subarachnoid hemorrhage, especially for the prevention and treatment of cerebral vascular spasms. It is used to improve cerebral blood flow and reduce the risk of neurological damage in patients who have suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. It has also been used in the prevention of neurological deficits after brain surgery and in the treatment of conditions involving cerebral ischemia.
Composition
Each ampule of Nimotop contains 10 mg of Nimodipine as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
It should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to Nimodipine or any component of the formulation. It is contraindicated in patients with severe hypotension, as well as in those who are in shock. Its use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with liver failure, as Nimodipine is primarily metabolized in the liver. Likewise, blood pressure should be monitored, as it may cause hypotension in some patients. Concomitant administration with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors is not recommended, as it may increase the plasma concentration of Nimodipine.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
