Indications
Nexium (esomeprazole) is indicated for the treatment of various conditions associated with excessive gastric acid production. It is primarily used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can cause symptoms such as heartburn and regurgitation. Additionally, it is effective in eradicating Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics, as well as in preventing gastric and duodenal ulcers in patients requiring treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is also used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a rare condition where the stomach produces too much acid. Esomeprazole works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, thereby improving the symptoms associated with these conditions.
Composition
Each Nexium sachet contains 10 mg of esomeprazole, as well as excipients necessary for its formulation. Please refer to the packaging for additional details on excipients.
Contraindications
Nexium is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors, or any of the product's excipients. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of moderate to severe liver disease.
Precautions
It is important to make an accurate diagnosis before initiating treatment with esomeprazole. Special care should be taken in patients with a history of liver disease, as well as in those presenting alarming symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, or melena. Regular medical follow-up is recommended during prolonged treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
