Indications

Nexium IV (Esomeprazole) is indicated for the treatment of various conditions related to excessive gastric acid production. Its main indications include:

  • Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adult and pediatric patients.
  • Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as prevention of recurrences.
  • Treatment of erosive esophagitis caused by gastroesophageal reflux.
  • Prophylaxis of gastric ulcers induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in high-risk patients.
  • Eradication of Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics for the healing of peptic ulcers.

Composition

Each Nexium IV ampoule contains 40 mg of esomeprazole, as well as the necessary excipients for its formulation.

Contraindications

Nexium IV is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors, or any component of the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate to severe hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases. Close medical monitoring is important in case of prolonged treatment, due to potential adverse effects such as vitamin B12 deficiencies or hypomagnesemia.

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
