Indications
Neurontin is indicated for the treatment of various neurological conditions. Its primary use is in the management of partial seizures, as adjunctive therapy in adults and children over 12 years of age. It is also used for the treatment of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic neuropathy and for postherpetic pain in adults. Gabapentin acts by modulating neurotransmitter release, which contributes to its antinociceptive and anticonvulsant effect.
Composition
Each capsule contains 300 mg of gabapentin. In addition to this active ingredient, the product includes excipients that ensure the stability and effectiveness of the medication.
Contraindications
Neurontin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gabapentin or to any of the product's excipients. Its use in people with a history of severe allergic reactions to other anticonvulsants should be evaluated with caution.
Precautions
It is recommended that patients with kidney problems adjust the dose of Neurontin, as gabapentin elimination may be affected in these conditions. Likewise, special care should be taken in patients with a history of depression or suicidal ideation, as an increased risk of suicidal thoughts has been reported during treatment with anticonvulsants. It is important to monitor the patient's mental state during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, between 15°C and 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
