Indications
Neular (Pegfilgrastim) is indicated for reducing the incidence of febrile neutropenia in patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy for cancer treatment. It is used in adult and pediatric patients receiving chemotherapy that carries a high risk of inducing neutropenia, as well as in the context of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation procedures. Additionally, it may be used in patients with chronic neutropenia, according to medical evaluation. Its use must be evaluated and supervised by a qualified healthcare professional.
Composition
Each Neular syringe contains 6 mg of pegfilgrastim, an analogue of granulocyte colony-stimulating protein (G-CSF). This component acts by stimulating the production of white blood cells in the bone marrow, which helps reduce the risk of infections in patients with a low neutrophil count.
Contraindications
Neular is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to pegfilgrastim or any of the formulation's components. Its use should also be avoided in patients with myeloproliferative diseases, as it may worsen their condition.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of pulmonary diseases, as well as in those experiencing bone pain, as this can be a side effect of the medication. It is important to monitor blood cell counts and evaluate pulmonary function in patients receiving this treatment. Concomitant use with chemotherapy that carries a high risk of inducing leukemia should be avoided, as it may interfere with the treatment.
Storage
Neular should be stored refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep the medication in its original packaging, protected from light and out of the reach of children.
