Indications
Minitran Patch 18 mg is indicated for the treatment of angina pectoris, as well as for the prevention of anginal episodes in patients with stable coronary artery disease. This medication acts as a vasodilator, which improves myocardial perfusion and reduces the load on the heart. It is useful for patients who require continuous control of anginal symptoms and who benefit from transdermal administration to maintain stable levels of glyceryl trinitrate in the body. Its use is recommended for patients who do not respond adequately to other antianginal treatments.
Composition
Each patch contains 18 mg of glyceryl trinitrate, along with excipients suitable for its transdermal formulation.
Contraindications
Minitran is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glyceryl trinitrate or other nitrates, in those with severe anemia, cardiogenic shock, intracranial hypertension, or cerebral hemorrhage. Its use is not recommended in patients taking phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (such as sildenafil) due to a potential risk of severe hypotension.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with a history of myocardial infarction, heart failure, or those who present with hypotension. It is advisable to monitor blood pressure and heart rate during treatment. Likewise, its use in combination with other medications that may potentiate the hypotensive effect of glyceryl trinitrate should be avoided.
