Indications
Mycostatin Suspension is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections caused by Candida species, including oral, esophageal, and cutaneous candidiasis. It is effective in immunocompromised patients, as well as in those requiring prophylactic treatment to prevent fungal infections in high-risk situations, such as oncology patients or those undergoing surgical procedures that may compromise their immune system. Nystatin acts by binding to sterols in the fungal cell membrane, altering its permeability and causing cell death. It is important to follow medical instructions to ensure proper and effective treatment.
Composition
Each 1 mL of Mycostatin Suspension contains 100,000 units of nystatin. Excipients: purified water, glycerin, among others.
Contraindications
Mycostatin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nystatin or any component of the formula. Its use is not recommended for systemic infections, as its use is limited to localized infections. Concomitant use with other antifungals without medical supervision should also be avoided.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Mycostatin in patients with liver diseases or gastrointestinal problems. Medical monitoring during treatment is recommended to evaluate effectiveness and the appearance of possible adverse effects. Its use in infants without adequate medical supervision is not recommended.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
