Indications
Micardis Plus is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication combines two antihypertensive agents: Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. The combination of these two components allows for better blood pressure control, contributing to the reduction of the risk of strokes and cardiovascular diseases in hypertensive patients. It is important that the treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the patient and carried out under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Composition
Each Micardis Plus tablet contains 80 mg of Telmisartan and 12.5 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide as active ingredients, as well as excipients necessary for the product's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or any of the excipients. It should not be administered to patients with a history of anuria or those with severe renal insufficiency. Likewise, it is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gout, diabetes, or those who are receiving treatment with other antihypertensives or diuretics. It is important to regularly monitor kidney function and electrolytes during treatment. Additionally, the risk of hypotension should be considered in patients who are dehydrated or have lost intravascular volume.
