Indications
Micardis is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. This medication works by blocking angiotensin II receptors, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure. It can also be used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension and other risk factors, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and a history of cardiovascular disease.
Composition
Each Micardis tablet contains 80 mg of telmisartan as the active ingredient. Other inactive components may include excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan or any of the excipients in the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment, as well as in those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis or in those with a single functional kidney.
Precautions
Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended during treatment with Micardis. It is important to adjust the dose in cases of renal insufficiency or in patients who are taking other antihypertensives. The risk of hypotension should also be considered in dehydrated or hypovolemic patients. In case of any unusual symptoms, a doctor should be consulted.
Storage
Micardis should be stored in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use the medication after the expiration date indicated on the package.
