Indications
Micardis is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is used as an antihypertensive therapy to reduce blood pressure and decrease the risk of associated cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke. Micardis can be administered alone or in combination with other antihypertensives. It has also been shown to be effective in patients with renal failure and type 2 diabetes, providing additional benefits in renal protection.
Composition
Each Micardis tablet contains 40 mg of Telmisartan as the active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch, magnesium stearate, and other excipients. The formulation is designed to ensure adequate release of the active ingredient, optimizing its therapeutic efficacy.
Contraindications
Micardis is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or any of its components. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to prior treatment with ACE inhibitors or Telmisartan. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in patients with severe liver disease or those with hypovolemia.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as in those taking other antihypertensive medications, as it may increase the hypotensive effect. It is important to monitor renal function and electrolytes in patients treated with Micardis. Likewise, care should be taken in patients with a history of allergic reactions or angioedema.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
