Indications
Metdual is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially in overweight or obese patients, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes diet and exercise. Its use is indicated in patients who do not achieve adequate glycemic control with metformin alone or in those who require combined therapy to optimize blood glucose control. Additionally, it may be indicated in patients who have shown insulin resistance.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Metformin 1000 mg and Glipizide 10 mg. Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, starch, talc, and other excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Metdual is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to metformin, glipizide, or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with severe renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency, diabetic ketoacidosis, or conditions that predispose to lactic acidosis.
Precautions
Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended in patients using Metdual, especially in the elderly. Likewise, it is important to monitor blood glucose levels and adjust the dose as needed. Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular diseases and in those who consume excessive alcohol.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
