Indications

Maxalt Rpd is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. Rizatriptan, its active ingredient, acts as a selective serotonin receptor (5-HT1B and 5-HT1D) agonist. Its use is recommended in patients experiencing typical migraine symptoms, such as severe pain, nausea, and photophobia. It is important to note that rizatriptan's efficacy is greater when administered in the early stages of a migraine attack. Its use as a prophylactic treatment for migraine is not recommended.

Composition

Each Maxalt Rpd film contains 10 mg of rizatriptan and excipients that facilitate its absorption and utilization in the body. Excipients include mannitol, citric acid, flavorings, and other components that ensure the stability and efficacy of the medication.

Contraindications

Maxalt Rpd is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to rizatriptan or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, or uncontrolled hypertension. It should not be administered in combination with other 5-HT1 agonists or with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Precautions

Maxalt Rpd should be used with caution in patients with a history of epilepsy, liver or kidney disorders, as well as in those who are using treatments that may interact with rizatriptan. It is essential that patients inform their doctor about any other medications they are taking.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, away from direct light and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
