Indications
Masennus (Atomoxetine) is indicated for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents aged 6 to 16 years. It can also be used in adults with ADHD. This medication acts as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, which helps improve attention, reduce impulsivity, and control hyperactivity. Atomoxetine is not a stimulant and is considered an alternative to amphetamine and methylphenidate treatments, offering a different safety profile.
Composition
Each Masennus capsule contains 60 mg of Atomoxetine as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients necessary for the drug's formulation.
Contraindications
Masennus is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atomoxetine or to any of the components of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, and in those who are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last 14 days.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Masennus to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or psychiatric disorders. Blood pressure and heart rate monitoring are recommended during treatment. This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts in some children and adolescents; therefore, close monitoring should be performed during treatment initiation and during dose adjustment periods.
Storage
Store the medication in its original packaging, protected from light and moisture, at room temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
