Indications
Magnefusin is indicated for the treatment of various medical conditions that require magnesium administration. It is used in the prevention and treatment of hypomagnesemia, as well as in situations that demand electrolyte repletion, such as certain gastrointestinal diseases, dialysis, and in the management of patients with severe dehydration. Additionally, magnesium sulfate is used in the management of seizures in patients with preeclampsia and eclampsia, as well as in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and in certain asthmatic conditions for bronchodilation. It is important that the administration of this medication be supervised by a healthcare professional, given that its incorrect use can lead to serious complications.
Composition
Each Magnefusin ampoule contains: 1 g of Magnesium Sulfate in 10 mL of solution.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypermagnesemia, severe heart block, and those with severe renal insufficiency, as its use can worsen these conditions. Magnefusin administration should be avoided in patients with known allergic reactions to the formulation's components.
Precautions
It should be used with caution in patients with heart or kidney disease or those receiving treatments that may interact with magnesium. Monitoring magnesium levels and renal function is essential during treatment. It is also recommended to assess the patient's condition before administration to avoid possible adverse reactions.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
