Indications

Lyrica (pregabalin) is indicated for the treatment of neuropathic pain in adults, including pain associated with diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia. It is also used as an adjunctive treatment in adults with partial epilepsy, as well as for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. Pregabalin acts by modulating the release of excitatory neurotransmitters, which contributes to its therapeutic effect in these conditions.

Composition

Each Lyrica capsule contains 150 mg of pregabalin as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medicine.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Pregabalin may cause dizziness and somnolence, so operating heavy machinery or driving vehicles should be avoided until the effect of this medication on the patient is known.
