Indications
Luvox is indicated for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in adults and children over 8 years of age. It is also used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety disorder (social phobia) and generalized anxiety disorder. Fluvoxamine works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, which can help improve mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and obsessions.
Composition
Each Luvox tablet contains 50 mg of fluvoxamine as fluvoxamine maleate. It also contains excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive ingredients.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluvoxamine or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients with a history of serotonin syndrome. It is also contraindicated in people who experience uncontrolled seizures.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Luvox to patients with a history of seizure disorders, liver or kidney disorders, and those who are taking other medications that may interact with fluvoxamine. Regular monitoring of the patient's mental state is recommended during treatment, especially at the beginning of treatment or when adjusting the dose.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
