Indications
Luditec (Glipizide) is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with diet and exercise alone. This medication can be administered alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, according to medical evaluation. Its use is recommended in overweight patients who require a treatment that not only controls glucose but also contributes to weight reduction.
Composition
Each tablet contains: Glipizide 10 mg.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glipizide or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, or in patients with severe renal or hepatic insufficiency. Its use during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated unless the physician deems it strictly necessary.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with a history of liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those with malnutrition or conditions that predispose to hypoglycemia. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended, and the dose should be adjusted according to the patient's needs. It is important to inform the doctor about any medications being taken, as drug interactions may occur.
