Indications
Lipitor is indicated for the treatment of patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, as well as in patients with mixed dyslipidemia. Its use is recommended for the reduction of elevated LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels, as well as for increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Additionally, it is used in the prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients, including those with a history of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and other cardiovascular risk factors.
Composition
Each Lipitor tablet contains 80 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with active or persistent liver disease, or in those with an unexplained increase in transaminases. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Frequent monitoring of liver enzymes is necessary in patients receiving Lipitor treatment. Patients with a history of muscle diseases, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis, should be carefully evaluated before starting treatment. Caution is advised in patients with renal insufficiency or who are using other medications that may increase the risk of muscle toxicity.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
