Indications
Lipitor is indicated for the reduction of elevated total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in adult and pediatric patients 10 years of age and older, as well as for the prevention of cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients. It is used in the treatment of primary and mixed hypercholesterolemia, as well as homozygous familial dyslipidemia. Lipitor works by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, which results in a decrease in cholesterol synthesis in the liver and an improvement in the lipid profile.
Composition
Each Lipitor tablet contains 20 mg of atorvastatin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients such as lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components necessary for the formulation.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or persistent elevations in transaminases, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and in those who are receiving other medications that may interact with atorvastatin. Liver function tests are recommended before starting treatment and during treatment.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
