Indications
Lipidil is indicated for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia and mixed dyslipidemia in patients who have not responded adequately to diet and other lifestyle changes. It is used as an add-on therapy in patients with hypercholesterolemia who do not achieve desired lipid levels. This medication works by lowering triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels, while potentially increasing HDL cholesterol. It is important that Lipidil use be accompanied by an appropriate dietary regimen and an exercise program.
Composition
Each Lipidil capsule contains 200 mg of fenofibrate as the active ingredient. Excipients include gelatin, glycerol, silica, among others.
Contraindications
Lipidil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fenofibrate or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in patients with active liver disease, severe renal insufficiency, or in those with a history of pancreatitis related to hypertriglyceridemia. Its use is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or in those taking other medications that may affect their liver function. Regular monitoring of liver enzymes and kidney function is important during treatment with Lipidil. The physician should be informed about any other medications the patient is taking to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store Lipidil in its original packaging, at room temperature, protected from light and humidity. Keep out of reach of children.
