Indications

Lexapro is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorders and generalized anxiety disorders. Its use is recommended in adult patients who present symptoms of depression, such as persistent sadness, loss of interest in previously pleasurable activities, alterations in sleep and appetite, as well as in those suffering from anxiety, with manifestations such as excessive worry, muscle tension, and difficulty concentrating. Escitalopram acts as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), increasing the concentration of serotonin in the central nervous system, which contributes to improving mood and reducing anxiety.

Composition

Each Lexapro tablet contains 10 mg of escitalopram, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.

Contraindications

Lexapro is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to escitalopram or to any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients who are being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and in those with a history of serotonin syndrome.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with a history of manic-depressive disorders, epilepsy, impaired liver or kidney function, and those taking other medications that may interact with escitalopram. Regular medical follow-up is recommended during treatment, especially at the beginning or when modifying the dose.

Storage

Lexapro should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the box.
