Indications

Kombiglyze XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This medication is used in combination with an appropriate diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control. It is particularly useful in patients who have not achieved adequate glucose control with metformin alone or in those who require additional treatment to optimize glycemic control. The combination of saxagliptin and metformin allows for a dual approach to glucose regulation, acting through different mechanisms.

Composition

Each Kombiglyze XR tablet contains 5 mg of saxagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin. The formulation is designed for extended release, facilitating once-daily administration.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, in those with severe kidney disease, or in those with diabetic ketoacidosis. Its use is not recommended in patients suffering from unstable heart failure or in those with a history of acute pancreatitis.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Kombiglyze XR in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with moderate renal insufficiency. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment, as well as to regularly monitor blood glucose levels. It is also recommended to evaluate the presence of gastrointestinal symptoms, as adverse effects in the digestive tract may occur.
