Indications

Ketosteril is indicated for the diet of patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease who are undergoing dialysis therapy. This medication helps provide an adequate source of essential amino acids, as well as ketoacid supplementation. It is used to prevent or treat protein malnutrition in patients with renal failure, helping to maintain nitrogen balance and the patient's general health. Additionally, its use is suggested in the diet of patients requiring protein intake restriction, thus contributing to the improvement of their quality of life.

Composition

Each Ketosteril tablet contains:
- Alpha keto acid (equivalent to 630 mg of essential amino acids)
- Excipients: lactose, starch, magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

Ketosteril is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with hereditary metabolic diseases affecting amino acid metabolism or in those with severe liver failure.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Ketosteril to patients with diabetes mellitus, as alpha ketoanalogs can influence glucose levels. Likewise, it is important to monitor renal function and electrolyte levels in patients treated with this medication. Regular medical evaluation is recommended to adjust the dose according to the individual needs of the patient.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
