Indications
Keppra is indicated for the treatment of partial onset seizures, with or without secondary generalization, in adults and children from 4 years of age with epilepsy. It is also indicated as adjunctive therapy in myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. Its use should be evaluated and supervised by a neurologist or epileptologist.
Composition
Each Keppra tablet contains 500 mg of levetiracetam as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation and stability of the medication.
Contraindications
Keppra is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levetiracetam or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Likewise, its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe adverse reactions to other antiepileptics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with renal impairment, as a dose adjustment is required. It is also recommended to monitor patients with a history of depression or psychiatric disorders, as changes in behavior and suicidal thoughts have been reported in some cases. Before starting treatment, a complete medical evaluation is essential.
Storage
Keppra should be stored at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
