Indications

Kabiven Peripheral is indicated for parenteral nutrition in patients who cannot receive adequate oral or enteral nutrition. It is used in specific clinical situations such as:

  • Patients with severe inability to adequately ingest nutrients due to surgery, trauma, or gastrointestinal diseases.
  • Patients with severe malnutrition or risk of malnutrition who require immediate nutritional support.
  • Metabolic conditions justifying the use of parenteral nutrition, such as certain chronic or acute diseases.
  • Intensive care patients who require controlled caloric and nutritional intake.

Composition

Kabiven Peripheral contains a balanced mixture of carbohydrates, amino acids, lipids, electrolytes, vitamins, and trace elements, designed to provide the necessary nutrition effectively.

Contraindications

The use of Kabiven Peripheral is not recommended in patients with:

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the product's components.
  • Severe metabolic disorders, such as hyperammonemia or severe hepatic insufficiency.
  • Dehydration or uncorrected electrolyte imbalance.
  • Patients in a coma or with conditions that prevent the safe administration of the solution.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with cardiac, pulmonary, or renal diseases, and those at risk of infections, as the administration of parenteral nutrition can lead to complications. It is essential to constantly monitor electrolyte levels and metabolic parameters during treatment.

Storage

Kabiven Peripheral should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light. The solution must be used before the expiration date indicated on the package. Do not freeze.

  1. Free home delivery by local branches on orders over $1000. Otherwise, a $50 fee will be added in the cities of Querétaro and La Paz, BCS, and $150 in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, BCS.
  2. FREE national shipping via ground on orders over $1,500.00. Otherwise, a fee of $170.00 MXN (One hundred seventy Mexican pesos) will be added for a standard package with dimensions up to 20cm x 20cm x 20cm and 1kg in weight, and $290.00 MXN (Two hundred ninety Mexican pesos) for packages exceeding the aforementioned dimensions or weight.
  3. In case of oversized items, the corresponding fee will apply according to the parcel service.
