Indications
Jardianz Duo is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. This medication is used in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with metformin alone or who are already being treated with a combination of empagliflozin and metformin. Jardianz Duo works by reducing blood glucose levels by decreasing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and increasing insulin sensitivity.
Composition
Each tablet contains 12.5 mg of empagliflozin and 850 mg of metformin.
Contraindications
Jardianz Duo is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components, in those with severe kidney disease or in a state of metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. Likewise, its use is not recommended in patients with severe heart problems or in those who are dehydrated.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of kidney, liver, or heart disease. It is important to monitor renal function before and during treatment with Jardianz Duo, as well as to be alert for the appearance of urinary and genital infections, which may be more frequent with the use of this medication. The dose should be adjusted in case of renal function deterioration.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
