Indications
Jardiance Duo is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. This medication is used in patients who have not achieved adequate control with metformin alone or in those who are already being treated with empagliflozin and metformin monotherapy. Jardiance Duo helps lower blood glucose levels by acting through different mechanisms: empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, while metformin improves insulin sensitivity and decreases hepatic glucose production.
Composition
Each Jardiance Duo tablet contains 12.5 mg of empagliflozin and 1000 mg of metformin.
Contraindications
Jardiance Duo is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with moderate to severe kidney disease, metabolic acidosis, or conditions that may increase the risk of dehydration.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, liver failure, or those who are undergoing diuretic treatment. It is important to monitor kidney function before and during treatment with Jardiance Duo, as well as to be alert for signs of hypoglycemia, especially if used in combination with other antidiabetics.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
