Indications
Jardianz Dpp is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. This medication combines two oral antidiabetic agents: empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and linagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. Empagliflozin works by reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing its excretion through urine, while linagliptin enhances insulin secretion in response to elevated blood glucose levels and decreases glucose production by the liver.
Composition
Each Jardianz Dpp tablet contains 25 mg of empagliflozin and 5 mg of linagliptin, as well as excipients q.s. for 1 tablet.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the formula's components, as well as in those with type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (Glomerular Filtration Rate less than 30 mL/min).
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with moderate renal impairment. Regular monitoring of renal function and blood glucose levels is important. Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
